Hello to my faithful readers! I don't have much to tell you this week because I've been very boring in the last week. But I did want to give you a heads up that this is probably my last blog for 2015. I'm going to be traveling for the next three weeks, so I don't know if I'll have time to write until I get back. But never fear, I will be sure to regale you with my adventures upon my return (and potentially before then if I have time!).
But in the meantime, I have a short, Christmas-themed post to share with you. The only things I've done in the last week are Christmas related. On Wednesday and Thursday, I taught in third and fourth grade, so I brought in Christmas bingo. The learning aspect of Christmas bingo is that they were forced to learn Christmas vocabulary, but we used M&Ms as place markers. They really enjoyed it, which made me happy.
On Thursday, Morgan and Vicki came over and we watched Elf, which we had been meaning to do for weeks. And it finally happened! Then, Fridays are usually my day off, but the high school was having a mercadillo, or a little market. They were selling things that they made or baked and the proceeds benefited Save the Children. I went to donate some money, presumably by satisfying my sweet tooth with baked goods, but I was beyond thrilled when I discovered that one of the items they were selling was books in English! It made my whole day to be able to buy a physical book, instead of the ebooks I've been reading since I got here. Meanwhile, the mercadillo raised almost €2,000, so I would say it was a success.
I've been trying to get over a lingering cold, so the rest of my weekend was pretty low key. I either slept or cleaned my apartment, except for a few hours on Saturday when Vicki lured me out to go Christmas shopping. But Sunday, Vicki, Morgan, and I got together to celebrate the end of school and to have a last get-together before Morgan went home to London and I left on my various travels. Vicki is staying in Quintanar with Luis Felipe for Christmas, of course. So we stuffed our faces at the Chinese buffet and watched Enchanted in Spanish. It was a lovely day overall.
Monday, I gave a presentation in philosophy about utilitarianism, and in my other classes, we just talked about Christmas! Monday night, I went to the primary school Christmas pageant. In my after school lessons, I attempted to teach first, second, and third grades some Christmas carols in English, but truthfully, it didn't go so well. Oh well. At least I tried! The rest of the pageant was very enjoyable. Performances included dances, musical numbers, songs, and most memorably, a Christmas rap, during which the background music was "P.I.M.P." by 50 Cent.

Today, I left school early to come to Madrid. I met up with my friend Blair and we spent most of the afternoon talking and laughing. But I can't wait for tomorrow, because my parents and my sister are at the Philadelphia airport as I write this. They're coming to Spain to spend Christmas with me, and we're going to see as much of the country as we can in the short time they're here. So keep an eye out for my next blog post, whenever that may be, because I guarantee it will be worth a read!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of my friends and family near and far. I hope your holidays are as magical as mine are sure to be!
